New fish
Six new catches can only be caught with a fish trap. They all count as fish (#minecraft:fishes), so cats and fish recipes accept them.
| Catch | Found in | Raw food | Cooked food |
|---|---|---|---|
Raw Trout | Rivers, lakes | 2 (0.1) | 6 (0.8) |
Raw Catfish | Swamps, rivers | 3 (0.1) | 7 (0.7) |
Raw Mackerel | Oceans, cold oceans | 2 (0.1) | 5 (0.6) |
Raw Crab | Oceans, warm oceans | 2 (0.1) | 6 (0.7) |
Raw Lobster | Cold oceans | 3 (0.2) | 8 (0.9) |
Raw Crayfish | Swamps, rivers, lakes | 1 (0.1) | 4 (0.5) |
Food is shown as hunger restored, with the saturation modifier in brackets, the same way vanilla lists cod (2, 0.1) and cooked cod (5, 0.6).
Rainbow Fish
Rainbow FishThe rarest catch in the mod. It only turns up in a trap fitted with a Netherite Net, and can then appear in any biome. Warm oceans give it twice the weight of other biomes.
Eat it raw for:
| Effect | Level | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Absorption | V (10 extra hearts) | 2:00 |
| Resistance | II | 1:00 |
It restores 6 hunger with a 1.2 saturation modifier, and you can eat it even when you're not hungry. Keep one for a hard fight.
Its catch chance grows with luck, so pairing it with the best bait helps. With a Netherite Net in a warm ocean, it's about 4% of catches with Worm Bait and about 6.5% with a Nautilus Lure.
Cooking
Every new catch except the Rainbow Fish cooks in a furnace, a smoker (twice as fast) or on a campfire, and gives the same experience as vanilla fish.
Furnace ➜ 10 s
Cooked Lobster
Smoker ➜ 5 s
Cooked Lobster
Campfire ➜ 30 s
